In July 2026, EcoTrust Roofing & Insulation Ltd stripped the old insulation and boards from a 32m² main loft in Whittington, Chesterfield, Derbyshire, and relaid it with Knauf mineral wool to 300mm. The team also topped up a 10m² loft area over the bathroom with an extra 100mm, completing the loft insulation in 1 day.
The problem
The 32m² main loft had old insulation and boards over the joists. Topping up over that would have left the new wool sitting on a poor base, with gaps and squashed areas.
A separate 10m² loft area over the bathroom also needed more insulation to bring it up to a better depth.
What we did
- Free survey: measured the main loft at 32m² and the area over the bathroom at 10m², and agreed a written price.
- Removed the old insulation from the main loft and bagged it up.
- Lifted the old boards in the main loft, taking it back to the joists.
- Laid new Knauf mineral wool between the joists, then a second layer across them, to 300mm.
- Topped up the 10m² loft area over the bathroom with an extra 100mm.
- Took all the waste away.
The result
The 32m² main loft now has 300mm of new Knauf mineral wool, laid evenly across the joists, and the area over the bathroom has an extra 100mm on top. The job was finished in 1 day.
