In September 2026, EcoTrust Roofing & Insulation Ltd fitted 50m² of SuperFOIL multifoil insulation to the rafters of a loft in Langho, near Blackburn, Lancashire. The team cleared 100mm to 150mm of fibreglass back from the eaves so air could move and installed 38 felt vents, one for every two runs, finishing the job in one day.
The problem
The loft in Langho had a boarded floor used for storage and a bare roof above, with only the old felt between the rafters and the slates. The homeowner wanted the roof itself insulated without losing the boarded space.
Our surveyor also found fibreglass pushed into the eaves. Blocked eaves stop air moving through the roof space, and once the rafters are lined with foil, that airflow matters even more to keep condensation away.

- Free survey: measured 50m² of rafters to line and agreed a written price, including ventilation.
- The homeowner cleared most belongings from the loft before we started.
- Pulled 100mm to 150mm of fibreglass back from the eaves so air could flow in at the edges.
- Fitted SuperFOIL multifoil across the underside of the rafters, stapled and taped at the joins.
- Installed 38 felt vents, one for every two runs between the rafters, so the roof can breathe.
- Cleared up, leaving the boarded floor and walkway clean.
